Rocky Elegance Frame

This tutorial was written entirely by me on November 28, 2007. Any resemblence to any other tutorial is completely coincidental.
The image used for this tutorial was obtained from a royalty free site and is included in the supplies below. The corners were made by me using brushes obtained online many years ago. If you know who made the brushes I'd appreciate if someone could email me so I can provide a link to their site.
This tutorial was written using Paint Shop Pro X, but can be done using other versions as well. It is written so that the novice should also be able to complete the tutorial. Although it does assume you have a basic working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.
You will need the supplies that I've zipped together. Download it HERE.
You will also need: Paint Shop Pro. You can download a 30 day trial version HERE.
Filter Factory A, download it HERE.
FM Tool Tiles, download the demo HERE. The demo has 7 fully functionally filters.
Simple Filters, download it HERE.
Eye Candy 4000 which is no longer available for download from Alien Skin. The tutorial can be done without this plug-in.
Just a tip to make things easier: I've made 2 custom toolbars that include all the things I use most often in PSP. That way I don't have to go looking for them, they're right there on the toolbar. To make your own custom toolbar in PSP X (and other versions as well), right click on a blank spot in the toolbar, go down to "Customize," click on the Toolbars tab and you'll see all the toolbars that are available. Next click on the "New" button and a little blank toolbar will appear somewhere in your work area. Click on the Commands tab and look for the commands you use most often and drag them to your new toolbar. Once you've got all the commands where you want them, you can move it to wherever is most convenient to have it. Mine are snapped to the upper border of my work area. See the image below as an example:

Are we ready to begin?
Unzip the supplies I've provided and open them all in PSP. Minimize all but the image, you'll need the others later. You can use the image provided or another image of your choice. With your eye dropper, pick two colors from your image, making the foreground color the darker color. I've chosen #7c1400 as my foreground and #c8684b as my background. Next, on your materials palette, set your foreground to a foreground/background gradient, style linear, angle 135, repeats 10, invert and texture NOT checked. Set your background for the gold foil (if you opened it in PSP, it'll be an option), angle 0, scale 100. (See illustrations below.)

Your materials palette should now look like this:

With your image active, Selections, Select All

Or click on the Select All button on your customized toolbar:

Once you have your customized toolbar, you can add things to it if you decide you need them just by right clicking and "Customizing." I'm not going to show you both images throughout this tutorial, I just wanted you to get an idea of how much easier it is once it's set up.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cutout using the below settings and making sure 'Fill interior with color' is NOT checked:
 Vertical & horizontal 0, Opacity 100%, Blur 30
Select/Select None
